When Annamari, a girl from Finnish Lapland, was 15 years old, her mother encouraged her to read Lin Jutang’s philosophy and the strategies of Lao-Tse. Annamari´s mother had read the same books when she was 15. Also, Annamari’s grandfather was a journalist on a provincial newspaper in Finland when he was young. A great reader, his beloved books are still well kept on the family bookshelf.

When Tracy (her Chinese name is Sun Xuan) was a little girl in Shanghai, her father encouraged her to study hard, especially English. Her grandfather from her father´s side mastered fluent English, while her father himself did not get the opportunity to learn the language. However, Tracy´s father is a talented master of traditional Chinese painting. Tracy’s grandparents had a house with a flower garden and antique Chinese wooden furniture. It was a splendid environment for reading and learning.

Our roads crossed working at the same multinational company, one of us based in Finland the other in Shanghai. Today we share the same philosophy and insight of cross-cultural business and branding. Tracy as a Board Member and Annamari as the President of Brand Balance.

Today we are 13 consultants in all, based in China, Finland and and Australia.

Did you know why we selected "In sharing we grow” to be our slogan? From our experience, both professional and life experience, we know that courage is a prerequisite to personal and professional learning and growth.

It is a human instinct to tend to keep knowledge to ourselves, especially in business. It often takes courage to trust individuals and institutions so much that you feel comfortable in sharing what you know.

But new, innovative solutions to problems can only be found when both parties decide to share. Forget who is right or wrong! Understanding and accepting this opens gates to both personal and professional growth.

Cultural dfferences make this even more challenging. Sometimes we need “translators” that can act as a bridge between two different cultural behavioral patterns.

Brand Balance´s task is to act as a translator and facilitator for Asian and European business co-operation. Our focus is corporate branding and marketing In Asia – Pacific and Europe. Consulting, training and implementing.
